An update

Hi Friends & Family,

So, does it look like spring yet in your neck of the woods? It's been raining here in Calgary for quite some time now, and I say we're well past due for some sunny and warm weather! Oh well, the grass is green and flowers have bloomed so I guess I can't complain too much ;)

Kent and I had a fun weekend. I celebrated my 26th birthday on Saturday (thanks for the facebook wishes everyone!) and Kent treated me to a fancy dinner and a beautiful necklace :) We also went to the Telus World of Science centre with our little buddy whom we're volunteering with for Big Brothers & Big Sisters. We decided to volunteer with the organization because we love kids and want to give back to our community and mentor to those in need. This little dude is a big cutie and is 7 years old. I took a bunch of pics of our day, but I'm not able to post them due to privacy and confidentiality issues.

In other news, I'm now officially on strike with the CBE. We (the professional support staff) are stiking in support of the general support staff, so they can get a better contract. This means I will be out of work on Tuesday and Wednesday next week, and most likely another few days/weeks before the end of the school year. I hope an agreement will be reached before September. Keep your fingers crossed :)

On a more positive note, Kent and I are coming home to Nova Scotia for a two week visit June 28-July 13. We were originally going to be taking Caper with us, but he gained 10 lbs since getting neutered two months ago and now weighs 85 lbs! He's 10 lbs over the weight limit for flying in the checked baggage area. So he will be staying in a kennel... We'd love to see people when we're home, so hopefully some old friends will be around during that time.

Take care folks, and have a great week. Happy Birthday MOM and Happy (early) Father's Day to all the DADS out there!!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to Momma Karen & Momma Irene!! :) We hope you have a fabulous day and enjoy your flowers!
We had a BBQ last night...it was kind of a housewarming/Kent's 28th birthday party (Happy Birthday babe!!) :)
It was a great time...a bunch of our friends came out and we even met some of our neighbours. We had hamburgers, hotdogs, salad and lots of people brought desserts...yum! It's always nice to have friends around, and Caper spent the night at a kennel and had a blast. He's all tuckered out now.
Here are some pics of the BBQ

Some of the neighbour's and Kent's co-worker Mike and his wife
My cousin Cheryl and her bf Andrew, with K1
Stacey and Troy were our dog-sitters but now we've become good friends!
My psych girlies Trista and Meg

This is our backyard. The previous owners were landscapers and they created a rock garden...it's suppose to bloom flowers in the summer. I guess we'll have to learn how to garden now lol

Welcome to our new home!

So we've pretty much unpacked everything now and are all settled in. We just bought some bricks and Kent is going to build a firepit in the backyard today. We live in suburbia in the far NW of Calgary and there's a little wooded area down the street...apparently two moose live there!! I'll try to snap a picture of them, they're huge!! Well have a super week folks!

Back by popular demand :)

Hello Everyone!!

I obviously have been neglecting the blog for some time now. It's not that we don't have anything to update you on...but life has been sooooo busy lately that it is hard to find the time to write. PLUS, I've had trouble with my laptop computers which makes it difficult to post pictures. But, with all the excuses aside, I will start posting again! YAY! LOL

I know most of our friends continue to stay updated with our lives via facebook, but there are a bunch of family members who continue to check up on us who haven't fallen victim to Facebook as of yet, so this is for you guys! :D

For my dad's 50th Birthday, Kent and I sent our parents to the Mayan Riviera in Mexico. We booked them a week at the same resort we went to for our honeymoon, and they had a blast! Here are a few pics from their trip.

Check out that aqua blue water!

The highlight of dad's trip was seeing the Mayan pyramid ruins... it was much too hot to go inland to see the ruins when Kent & I went, but the weather was perfect for their trip!!

Happy 50th DAD! :D

As most of you know, Kent and I bought a new house and moved in this past weekend! About a month ago Kent's dad came up to visit Calgary and help finish our basement. (THANKS LLOYD!) He did an amazing job and we've decided to become landlords and rent our first house while we're in Calgary. The renters moved in this weekend so it has been hectic to say the least! We're very excited to be in our new house now and will post pictures once we've unloaded all of the boxes and put the furniture in order. Our house now has a garage and big back yard for our little Caperoo. Caper's having a bit of a hard time adjusting I think, cause he's been acting out and demolishing anything that's in his way. He already chewed two of our new floor mats. Maybe we're neglecting him just a bit these days :) But I think he'll get better this week!

Well that is it for now. Next I'll post some pics of our house, and perhaps some pics of Kent's parents trip to Florida.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Uncle Paul, Aunt Priscilla and Cousin Jono!!

Have a super week everyone. Oh, and if you are still reading this...please drop us a comment. We'd love to hear from you!

It's beginning to look alot like Christmas...

It sure is! It's now offically the dead of winter here in Calgary. We've had snow on the ground for a couple weeks now, and it's -22 C without the wind chill. Cold enough for ya? I like being out in chilly weather but when it's THAT cold out you can't do much. Kent and I get all bundled up to walk Caper every night, and yesterday my hair and eye lashes froze. hahaha. We're beginning to decorate the house, bit by bit, and we'll probably get our tree next week. This weekend we're headed to Panorama for a ski weekend. We're staying at a condo with a bunch of friends so it should be a good time - if I don't kill myself on the hill, that is :) I'm going to "try" my hand at skiing again this year. I just hope it's not -35 C like the last time I went!!

We're excited to go home for Christmas this year - we booked our plane tickets for Dec 21 until Dec 30th. We'll arrive in Halifax and then drive to Cape Breton. Caper's sitter cancelled on us last minute - which left us in a bit of a pickle, but I think I've found someone to take him. The only thing - she has two rottweilers!!! and they're HUGE! We're going on a play date this week to see how they get along.

Well, that's it for now. I'll post some pictures soon :)

Oh, here is a picture of Kent and I at his work Christmas party in November. The party weekend was soo much fun (as always!) but I forgot my camera so this is the only picture we have.

Halloween

Some of the Halloween Jack'O'Lanterns we carved this year. We had about 50 er so trick or treaters and Caper was a huge hit with his costume. I love Halloween...Now the malls are getting all decked out for Christmas. Actually, The Bay was already decorated before Halloween.

Creepy Dracula! Check out Caper's eyes lol

An up-date, yay!

Happy Halloween everyone!!

So it's been a while since our last post. All I can say is that life has been soo busy, and it's JUST starting to slow down now. I finished my FINAL (as in, ever!) exam last Wednesday and am soooo happy that's over with. Becoming a Psychologist has been a very long journey but now I can see the light. :) I only have a bit of paper work to complete and that's it! YAY!!! Kent is doing great, as always, and Caper is now 7 months old, and around 65 lbs already.

Here's a pic of Caper on a walk a week ago. He's checking out another dog on the trail...

Here's a pic of our city from the hill...

Well... gotta run, but we'll post some pictures of our pumpkins after we carve them tomorrow! Have a great Halloween everyone!

A golden among the gold :)

We took Caper to the park today - We had a beautiful day and enjoyed the gorgeous golden leaves!
